Pfizer vaccine can be stored in fridge for longer: EU drug regulator

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has stated that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine can now be stored at fridge temperature for a longer period than previously recommended.

The regulator stated that after the vaccines thawed, the unopened vials could be stored in the fridge for up to a month. The present duration is just five days. The change is expected to have a significant effect on vaccine rollout across the EU.

The transport and storage requirement for the vaccine at very low temperatures has been a major disadvantage. The previous storage requirements for the vaccine had made it difficult to use in certain parts of the world… (BBC, May 18, 2021)
